Uppsala Universitet, Campus Gotland

Uppsala University offers three international Bachelor’s degrees in Game Design:

●            Bachelor Programme in Game Design and Graphics
●            Bachelor Programme in Game Design and Programming
●            Bachelor Programme in Game Design and Project Management

All programmes are 3 years (180 ECTS) and given entirely on Uppsala University's Campus Gotland in Visby. The application deadlines are the 15th of January (international admissions) and the 15th of April (national admissions). All applications are done through antagning.se / universityadmissions.se.

Our formal name is the Department of Game Design, but we call ourselves GAME for short. All our students work together in mixed teams to produce games every year, and graduate with a solid portfolio, analytical skill and deep theoretical knowledge of Game Design. They go on to work in the global industry, start their own studios or to apply game design in a huge number of fields: user experience design, art, pedagogy,  advertising, and so on.

The education also hosts the Gotland Game Conference — an annual event where our students showcase their games to the public, and to a jury of the international game industry, -academia and -press. Student projects that do well at the Gotland Game Conference often end up touring other events and awards around the world — including the alt.ctrl.GDC, Comic-Con, the Swedish Game Awards, GamesCOM, Game Connection and more — further building their portfolio and professional network.

We highly recommend visiting the Gotland Game Conference before applying to our programmes. It's a great opportunity to meet our students, faculty, and alumni, to see our campus, and to get a sense of how we work and what our values are.
